Beta Sigma Phi celebrated Founder's Day

Beta Sigma Phi celebrated Founder’s Day, April 29, on the 85th Anniversary of its founding. Xi Beta Omicron hosted the brunch at the Chic N’Chop. Linda Alt, President of Xi Beta Omicron, welcomed all in attendance and introduced all guests.
Craig Anderson director of the Boundary County Library spoke of the many opportunities and happenings occurring at the library. He acknowledged Sandy Ashworth for her incredible vision for the library, creating a culture of opportunity, and how exciting it is for him to be a part of implementing that vision.
Jill Jurgensen was named Beta Sigma Phi’s Woman of the Year. Jill has served Beta Sigma Phi in many different capacities and always being the one striving to make the best better.
Two organizations were selected as the recipients of the 2017 Beta Sigma Phi Service Award totaling $1300. BOCO Backpack, represented by Shirley Anderson, and Boundary County Victim Services, represented by Becky James, were presented checks for their respective organizations. Both organizations
Beta Sigma Phi provides this monetary award along with a scholarship to a BFHS Senior and sponsor a DYW candidate through the monies raised from the annual Beta Sigma Phi Birthday Calendars. The Businesses in Boundary County who purchase ads and everyone who buys a Beta Sigma Phi Birthday Calendar make this possible.
BOCO Backpack was started 8 years ago to help the high percentage of children who receive free or reduced lunches. BOCO workers and 2nd Harvest purchase food, assemble it in backpacks, then deliver it to students at schools on Thursdays before they are sent home for the 3-day weekend. Each backpack contains approximately 7 pounds of food which provides each child basic nutrition for 3 days. BOCO receives funding for this project through grants and private donations.
Boundary County Victim Services is available to assist victims of all types of crimes by providing information to work through the legal and court systems. BCVS provides support, information, education, and referral services to victims and their immediate families, witnesses, and survivors. Advocates can assist with Civil Protection Orders, restitution calculations, court escort, emergency medical advocacy and overall support.
