Last week we shared a picture of the Cone Motor Company. Berniece Cone’s Chevrolet Cabriolet is in front of the “Motor Repair” bay. Berniece was a High School senior at the time. This was a Case and Hudson dealership as well as a Chevron Service Station and repair garage. Grace Schuon Leidt remembers it as a Shell Gas Station owned by Joe and Alma Wombacher. The history book tells us that this was in 1953. Grace also remembers that there were apartments in the upper portion of the building. Currently the building, minus the repair bays, is a part of JB Tires.

Your Boundary County Historical Society and Museum, 7229 Main, Bonners Ferry, Idaho sponsors this column. During the summer, we will be open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To help maintain the buildings, a small entrance fee is requested. It is $2 per person or $5 per family. There is no charge for those under 14 years old or for the Boundary County Historical Society members.
