Boundary County Marines celebrate 242 years
“From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli,”
From the Selkirks and the Cabinets, to the banks of the Kootenai.
Nov. 10, 2017 marked the 242nd birthday and the existence of the United States Marine Corps. Boundary County active duty, and former Marines, and Veterans from all of the military services gathered at the Kootenai River Inn in an evening of celebration and remembrance. Master of Ceremonies, Tim Wilson, LtCol, USMC, a fighter pilot in the Desert Storm conflict, presented a historical video of the Marine Corps. A video birthday address by the Commandant of the Marine Corp, General Robert B. Neller was also presented by LtCol Wilson.
The evening culminated with a patriotic and very moving address by Heather Scott, Representative 1st District. Rep. Scott has strong ties to the military and is a staunch advocate of our nation’s veterans. Her words were appreciated and deeply touched those in attendance.
The Kootenai River Inn catered the event under the direction of the Restaurant Manager, Tony Fleck, himself a former U.S. Marine.
The U.S. Marine veterans and the veterans of all the services in Boundary County wish to thank our citizens for the donations that were received, and the continued support for our veterans, and our troops presently serving.
