| November 23, 2017 12:00 AM

The Boundary County Human Rights Task Force is presenting a film and forum to address the serious issue of cyber-bullying. The film “Cyberbu//y” is an ABC Family original movie that aired in 2011. The film tells a story of a teenage girl who was bullied online. Since then, the problem has continued to grow and touches nearly all teens that use the internet, usually without the knowledge of their parents.

The movie addresses issues related to this topic, including the anonymity that exists online, the legal loopholes that enable cyber-bullying, social pressure to partake in digital relationships and the emotional devastation that bullying inflicts on its victims and their families.

The film is rated PG-13 and it is recommended parents view the movie with their mature pre-teens and teenagers.” After the film, there will be a Q & A session with a panel of community professionals representing victim services, counselors, law enforcement and peers. Audience members can submit questions anonymously for the panel to address and discuss. We encourage parents to come with their teens to learn more and open a dialogue about this important issue affecting our youth.

The program will be held at the BFHS Becker Auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
