BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry Girls’ Soccer team hosted Kellogg last Thursday in Intermountain League play, and came away with a 1-0 victory. Junior midfielder Falisha Elliston converted a 60th-minute penalty kick for the game’s only score, and the Badger defense was stellar in stopping the few Wildcat scoring opportunities to complete the shutout.

With the win the Lady Badgers improved to 4-4 in the IML, and 4-7 overall.

Bonners Ferry visited Priest River on Saturday, Sept. 30, and came out on the short end of a 3-1 decision. Freshman forward Paisley Schulte scored her second goal of the season to open the scoring at the 22nd minute mark, but the Spartans tied the score with a goal of their own before half to make it 1-1 at the break. Priest River punched in two more second-half goals while the Badgers were unable to mount any serious scoring threats of their own in the second half.

The final home matches of the season take place Friday, Oct. 6, when the Badgers host St. Maries on Senior Day, with the girls kicking off at 4 p.m. and the boys to follow at 6 p.m.

District play for both girls and boys teams begins Monday, Oct. 9 at a site yet to be determined.
