New dentist office to open in Bonners Ferry
BONNERS FERRY — North Idaho Family Dentistry has been working with Litterell Woodworks construction company on the building next to Napa Auto Parts for the past few months. As the building progression comes closer to its finishing stages, the community seems to hold their breath, waiting for the new dentist office to open.
Watching dad has pointed Dr. Taylor Geyman in the direction of healthcare, and has used that influence in both his educational and medical fields to pursue the career of being a dental practitioner. After working as a dental assistant in high school, Geyman got the feel for the field and decided to continue to work towards the education he needed in order to make his dream come to fruition. After years of schooling at Idaho State University for prerequisite classes, Geyman moved on to the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, where he received the hard-earned title Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Geyman continues to be up to date in all the new methods in dentistry, especially in the pediatric field, and he continues to be up to speed with everything new in the progressing field.
With his wife, Amie, and three boys, Winston, Dennis, and their newest addition, William, the family decided to move back to the Boundary County community — to bring its residents a new dental practitioner in order to supplement the existing doctors.
After being raised here, Geyman said, “Bonners Ferry is where my wife and I decided to raise our family.”
With the building of the new office, Geyman also spent a lot of time working on applying for insurance companies. He plans to uphold as many policies as he can, including companies supporting the military and Medicaid.
“Our focus is accessibility to dental care. There’s a lot of people having to drive a ways to take care of their kids, especially for Medicaid patients in particular. When I worked in Sandpoint, I was running into Bonners Ferry residents. I think an important thing is providing access to care and I am trying to make it as affordable as I can for the community. I want to provide affordable care without compromising quality,” said Geyman. “I like the ability to be in the community a lot, and as a dental practitioner you get to know people’s story, and in a small town like Bonners Ferry, you know you will see them again. I want to be able to contribute back to the community that way.”
Geyman takes pride in being able to use the most up to date equipment on the market, starting with the Nomad, a portable X-Ray machine that emits the lowest radiation possible, so that the patients are comfortable, being able to stay in their assigned rooms. “I feel confident in offering the most up to date equipment,” said Geyman.
With the hometown hospitality that Geyman grew up in, and the educational and medical support from his father, Dr. Troy Geyman, Taylor Geyman has one main goal. “I want the people of Bonners Ferry to stay in Bonners Ferry and not have to drive. I’m opening the doors as much as we possibly can, to see as many people in the community as we can, especially children. I love seeing children. I want to bring as much accessibility as I can to the community. I hope that we can provide that access with the best prices and without compromising quality. It’s the right thing to do.”
Geyman has not only brought the community a new option in dentistry for Boundary County, but also continues to uphold our hometown qualities.
”I loved growing up in this community. It’s a really tight knit community that knows each other well, and is willing to support each other. We have felt very blessed already.”
