Boundary Amateur Radio Club to host classes
The Boundary Amateur Radio Club (BARC) is hosting a FREE Amatuer Radio class along with members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) church.
The class will be held at the LDS Church in the Primary Room; enter on the north side of the building, signs will be posted for those in the class. The church is at 1512 Alderson Lane here in Bonners Ferry.
The Technician class will be six weeks, for two hours each week. We are taking reservations and we advise buying the book ahead of time. It is available at Amazon or ARRL or from us the first night of class. Class price is $23. We are asking for reservations to know how many books to order, or if you would rather purchase it on your own. Deadline for reservations is noon this Friday, Sept. 15, if you need a book. If you purchase your own book you can just show up to class.
The book is the third edition of the Technicians Manual, Published by Amatuer Radio Relay League (ARRL) the cover is red with a gentlemen with headphones on. Be sure it is the third edition, as every five years they change a third of the question pool. This Technician Class starts promptly at 6 p.m. each Thursday night and will end promptly at 8 p.m. The testing session will be on Nov. 2 again on Thursday night. This testing session will begin at 6:30 p.m. There is a $5 charge for the test. Please bring a picture ID.
We are testing all classes, (Technician, General, and Extra) so those wishing to upgrade, please bring a copy of their current license along with a picture ID and $5.
