Farm to Table Gourmet Feast set for Sept. 23
BONNERS FERRY — The second annual Farm to Table Local Gourmet Feast is 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, t the Boundary County Fairgrounds.
This celebration of local food features local roast beef, cider, beer, homemade breads with local flour, homemade butter, cheese (chevre and cow), homemade ice cream, and fresh organic vegetables from the GROW garden. Many local growers will be supplying their wares, from blueberries to honey to peaches for dessert. Live old-time music will be provided by Fiddlin Red from Sandpoint and his band Ruff Shod.
In addition, there will be a Silent Auction and several raffles. Tickets, which are $40 each, are available from Bonners Books, the UI Extension Office, and online at www.tinyurl.com/BoCoLocal.com. Last year’s event sold out, as there are just 100 tickets available.
This fundraiser for Gardeners for Regional Organic Wellbeing, or GROW, helps cover operating expenses for the community garden located on the grounds of Trinity Lutheran Church. GROW provides access to low-cost garden plots at this location, and also raises organic vegetables for the local food bank and other community organizations. The community garden is also used by UI Extension for classes and a demonstration garden. More information on GROW can be found on their website, GrowBoundaryCounty.org.
More information on local suppliers of food, fiber, flowers and more can be found at a new website, www.BoCoLocal.com. This website was developed as an outgrowth of last year’s Farm to Table dinner. If you are a local supplier and wish to be included, please contact Kate Painter at the UI Extension Office, kpainter@uidaho.edu or 208-267-3235.
