Multiple agencies work to contain boat fire

BONNERS FERRY — At 4:46 p.m. on Sept. 16 there was a fire reported south of Moose Valley Farms at 495114 Hwy 95. South Boundary Fire Department responded, with North Bench Fire Department and Boundary Ambulance Service assisting with a boat that had caught on fire.
The boat was a 32 foot Carver powerboat that rolled off the trailer into the surrounding sand. The owner worked quickly to remove the batteries and anything that would cause further damage, fire personnel reported.
The owner had more than 125 gallons of fuel in the tank and noticed fuel running down the bilge before erupting in flames. Since the surrounding area was sand, there was little chance for the flames to spread, but there was an attack line put into place to prevent any chance of the fire spreading to nearby trees in the vicinity.
Paradise Valley Fire Department also assisted with another safety line while North Bench Fire Department supplied the engines with their water tenders.
The fire was safely contained and no one was injured.
