BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry Girls’ Soccer team hosted Timberlake last Thursday, dropping a 4-1 decision to an experienced Tiger squad, before rebounding Saturday afternoon with a decisive 5-1 victory over Grangeville in Kellogg. The Badgers trailed only 2-0 at the half against Timberlake, then conceded two more second-half goals before senior forward Jorryn Bennett found the back of the net just before the final whistle. The Badgers will see the second-place Tigers again on the road next Tuesday.

On Saturday September 23, the Lady Badgers faced an inexperienced Grangeville team, scored five first-half goals and coasted to the 5-1 Intermountain League victory. Freshman Prairie Plaster netted two goals, while junior midfielder Falisha Elliston and freshmen Holly Ansley and Paisley Schulte also scored for Bonners. Having standout defensive games were defenders junior Hannah Beazer, and seniors Tori Burt and Kassy Skeen.

With the win the Lady Badgers improve to 3-4 in the IML, and 3-6 overall. Kellogg visits Lindberg Field today for a 4:00 p.m. match before Bonners travels to Priest River on Saturday and Timberlake next Tuesday. The final home matches of the season take place Friday October 6 when the Badgers host St. Maries on Senior Day, with the girls kicking off at 4:00 p.m. and the boys to follow at 6:00.
