Loretta Kay Smith

Loretta Kay Smith, 82, passed away on Sept. 23, 2017 at the Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Private arrangements are being made.

Loretta, or Kay as her friends and family knew her, was born on July 27, 1935 in Astoria, Ore., to Margaret and Chris Bedortha where she grew up and would love to ride her horse, Pepper, down the fence line and race the cars coming down the road.

Kay was married in 1952 and had two sons, Brad and Bruce Miller. Kay was always looking for that perfect spot to enjoy the rest of her life moving from California, then to Brandon, Ore., then to Green Valley, Ariz., which was her favorite spot of all.

Her son Brad gave her two beautiful grandchildren, Danielle and Travis Miller; Bruce added four beautiful grandchildren, Shandie (Davenport), Shane Miller, Ashley (Gassett) and Joshua Miller; and 8 great-grandchildren

Kay spent summers in Bonners Ferry, Idaho with Bruce and her grandchildren for the last 10 years. She loved thrift stores, yard sales, and finding treasures at the dump. She would bring them home fix them up and resell them at a yard sale or put them in her house. She could sniff a deal a mile away.

She was married in California to Don Smith who was truly the love of her life, even after his passing.

Kay spent the last two years of her life in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Sadly after two strokes succumbed her to need full time care. We know she is at peace with the Lord in Heaven with a fully able body and mind, dancing and singing with her love Don.
