Steven George Florea

Steven George Florea died of heart failure the morning of March 27, 2018 in Yuma, Ariz. Krysty Marin, his girlfriend of five years, was with him. Steve was 61.

Steve was born Sept. 11, 1956 in Denver, Colo., to George Andrew and Fredericka Dart Suchey. “Steve” was only six years old when his father died. His mother had four sons and one daughter.

In 1965, “Freddie” Fredericka moved her family to Eastport, Idaho after purchasing property on the Moyie River at Addie, Idaho. Steve started the third grade at Mt. Hall School. Steve’s mother Freddie was a registered nurse and worked at Bonners Ferry Community Hospital. On June 25, 1966, Freddie married Fay Allen Florea and Fay adopted all five of Freddie’s children. Steve attended Bonners Ferry High School and in 1975 joined the Idaho National Guard. He served 18 months of active duty in Wildflecken, Germany. Steve was a member of Headquarters Company 1st Infantry Battalion, and worked in the POL Section. Steve received an Honorable Discharge.

In 1980, Steve married Patricia Caroline Pluid. The couple moved to Casper, Wyo., where Steve worked for a paving company. Two years later, the couple moved home to Bonners Ferry and started their family of five children. Steve worked in asphalt, construction, logging and was a loan officer at a bank. Patti and Steve divorced in 2008.

Steve worked as a tire technician in North Dakota prior to his return to Yuma in 2016. Steve liked to fish. He enjoyed the History Channel. He loved amusement parks and rollercoasters.

Steve is survived by his sister Susan Falck, Bonners Ferry; and brothers Scott Florea, Simi Valley, Calif.; Stan Florea, Bonners Ferry and Shane Florea, Bonners Ferry and his children and grandchildren are: Stephanie Plato (JB), Ali (5) and Mia (2); Stacie Wages (Jacob) Freya (2); Patrick Florea; Whitney Florea and Bryce Florea (Tearra).

A memorial will be held at a later time.
