Chili cook-off contest, auction, to benefit local honor guard

| April 26, 2018 1:00 AM

The Boundary County Honor Guard would like to invite you to join them for their first Chili Cook-off Contest & Auction. There will be two classes: business and private.

The chili feed will fire off May 5, from 4-7 p.m. (or until the chili runs out), and can be found downtown at the Bonners Ferry City Fire Station #1. Be sure to stop by the City Fire Station and say ‘hi’ and have some chili and take a look at some great items for auction.

The Boundary County Honor Guard is an all-volunteer group of firefighters from different departments all over boundary county providing services in Bonners Ferry, Western Montana, Sandpoint, Idaho, as well as Eastern Washington.

The Honor Guard includes Tony Rohrwasser of South Boundary Fire, Wally Nyberg of Mount Hall Fire, Alan Hamilton and Ken Baker both of Bonners Ferry City Fire, Granite Allenger and Cheryl Jackson both of North Bench Fire, led by Chaplin Len Pine, also of the Bonner Ferry City Fire. This is the first to Boundary County Honor Guard, so they are raising funds to buy matching uniforms that will be used during services as well as parades. The proceeds from this event will go to purchasing class A dress uniforms, training equipment and tools.

We would like to express a great thank you to those who have donated already. Be sure to be on the look-out for them at future parades and events.

We look forward to seeing you there!

For more information and entry forms or making a donation, please contact Cheryl Jackson at 208-597-2942 or e-mail at a.c.jackson@hotmail.com.
