Bradshaw presents, performs country music history at library

BONNERS FERRY — On Aug. 16, the Boundary County Library welcomed Almeda Bradshaw to perform an informative concert for the evening.

Bradshaw gave a presentation about the history of women in country music during the mid-1900s, touching on the progression of the era between the 1940s and 1960s and how women were viewed not just during the time, but as performers. Throughout the presentation, Bradshaw filled the downstairs portion of the library with her country twang as she sang the hit songs of the eras while strumming her guitar.

Visiting Bonners Ferry was an easy stop on her tour as she heads around the northwest. Coming from Billings, Mont., Bradshaw’s brother and sister-in-law live in the area, and with local family and friends, the singer/songwriter has continued to make her mark on Boundary County.

“It was hard competing against the fair activities tonight,” said Boundary County Library Director Craig Anderson.

But even with the fair activities nearby, there was a captivated audience filling the room, each person’s hands clapping after every song.
