Koberstein Insulation opens in Boundary County

BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County has continued to grow, with an estimated population of roughly 12,000 residents and a 7 percent growth rate. Companies in the construction industry are noticing an increasing demand as well.

Ryan Koberstein has recently branched out on his own and opened Koberstein Insulation, which is one of the insulation companies in the county.

The majority of people he and his wife had talked to had outsourced from the larger cities such as Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene, due to the wait time for the local company.

“So I told Ryan that we needed to get going on that before someone else does,” said Sydney Koberstein.

With a history of approximately seven years in general construction, including building log homes, and working for a local insulation company, Ryan Koberstein gained the experience he needed to meet a need in the community.

“I saw that it was something he could do with his broken back, so I said ‘yeah, I am all for starting the business because you need something long term that you are physically able to do,” explained Sydney Koberstein.

Not only performing a job that he enjoys doing, Ryan Koberstein is able to make his own hours. Having the ability to do that, he is able to schedule time for his passion, hunting, especially with his hounds, as well as spending time with their children.

Sydney Koberstein does the books and scheduling side of the business on top of her newly full time job as a Paraprofessional in Special Education at Valley View Elementary School, which is an assistant for the special needs children in the school.

The company installs quality fiberglass and blow-in cellulose insulation, utilizing a machine to get the job done efficiently. The plant-based cellulose insulation is utilized, not only for its heat and cold retention, but its noise reduction qualities. The fiberglass is not much different in the means of insulating the home, but it is made of tiny woven fibers of glass.

Working hard, quickly, and efficiently has been a top priority for Ryan Koberstein, so being able to set the pace has been beneficial to his style of work environment- get it done.

“Our family motto is work hard, play hard, so why not be your own boss if you have the means to do it,” said Sydney Koberstein.

“I would have to say the most exciting thing about starting a business here is, after growing up in Bonners Ferry, I look forward to serving this community,” said Ryan Koberstein. “We can’t wait to see the awesome places we will go in this business and we look forward to growing in the next few years.”
