Laurence Myrle Bradley

Laurence Myrle Bradley passed away on Aug. 15, 2018, at the Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry and private interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.

Myrle was born on March 30, 1926, to Henry Orrin Bradley and Sirena Parker Bradley in Toppenish, Wash. The family moved to this area when Myrle was young. He went to schools in Boundary County finishing at the Northside School. Henry built a large home on the northside in Bonners Ferry where he and his siblings spent most of their younger lives.

Myrle went to work for the Spalding Mill for 2 years and then for the Thompson Lumber Co. as a trimmer man. He married Dorothy May Soders on July 13, 1946 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He moved to Plummer, Idaho, to work in an area mill where he was badly injured in 1947. He had been married to Dorothy for less than a year and they were divorced. Myrle spent the better part of the next 10 years struggling with his injury. Myrle worked for the Great Northern Rail Road for five years. Then one day he talked to the shoe repairman and brought home a type harness that acted like an arm. He went back to logging in Washington and Idaho until a second accident in 1972 caused him to retire.

He also made jewelry for a while, but didn’t like it as much as being outside. He liked working in the woods and fishing with Fred Medock. They fished the river for sturgeon and logged cottonwood, and became the best of friends. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Luther Choir, he was an avid CB Radio operator, collected coins and a member of the Heart CB Club.

He is survived by his daughter Leanna (Lewis) Phillips; two grandchildren; Mary and Eddy; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
