Barrel Racers hit the jackpot

BONNERS FERRY — On Aug. 25, horses and riders attended a Barrel Race America competition. There were several different classes which were classified under open, youth, senior, novice and 1-4D classes.

There were thirteen riders competing in the Open race with a total of $423 dollars in prizes. The top placers for the Jackpot Open Race 1D class was Tamara Barnhart in first place winning $76, Amanda Haworth in second place and winning $51, and Tristin Wadsworth in third place. For the 2D class, Amber Villeli on her horse Roc Bedergo Fly, brought home first place and $114. In the 3D class, Sabre Soderbeck on Sheza Fast Fortune brought in first place and won $97. For the 4D class, Harley Niswender came in first and won $51, Jasmine Miller came in second and brought home $34, and Noel Sweet came in third.

For the Jackpot Youth race 1D placers were Erin Gunter in first place winning $29, in second place was Myia Anderson, and in third place was Jasmine Miller.

In the 2D division, Lauren Bogart finished first winning $26.

Larryssa Grove finished first in the 3D division winning $23.

In the 4D class, Bailey King came in first winning $20, followed by Ashton Thompson in second place. The division had a total of $98 in the jackpot.

In the Jackpot Senior race, Noel Sweet came in first winning $17 and Paula Nelson came in second winning $11.

In the Jackpot Novice Race, Malorie Stippich came in on top in the 1D division, winning $28. The 2D winner was Laryssa Grove bringing home $25.

For the 4D division, Myia Anderson brought home $18 for placing first, followed by Cade Jelenik and Erin Gunter.

For the Open Race 2, Tamara Barnhart brought home $83, followed by Amber Villeli.

Tristin Wadsworth won the 2D winning $75, followed by Amanda Haworth. Harley Niswender brought home $63, and Noel Sweet brought home $55.

In the Youth Race 2, Erin Gunter won $25, Bailey King won $17, and Larryssa Grove came in second in the 4D.

Noel Sweet won the Senior Race 2 bringing home $14. In the Novice 2 race, Larryssa Grove won $17, and Cade Jelenik won $11.

There was one little pony that three young riders rode at their own pace, finishing the day with more experience and prizes. Each competitor gained experience, and lots of fun was had.
