It seems as though winter is here now that Thanksgiving has come and gone. The snow boots, winter coats, hats, and gloves are beginning to arrive in our hallways. The fall season has been tremendous in Boundary County this year and we are lucky to call this place home. In addition, all of us adults that get the opportunity to teach as Valley View Elementary School (VVES) are also very lucky. We have classrooms full of great students, staff, and volunteers and it is my privilege to honor a handful of them this month.

The fifth grade Leadership Class put on their annual toy drive once again and the VVES community supported it well. I want to personally thank the many generous citizens who gave toys this year, you are greatly appreciated.

Speaking of wonderful citizens, this month at VVES we celebrated the character trait of Citizenship. The definition of citizenship is being prepared, cooperative and doing your share; it is helping to make your school, community, country and world a better place. The following students were selected by their teacher for being such great citizens. They are: Addie Falck, London Sceppe, Hudson Hubbard, Marek Michaels, Jordyn Turner, Paisley Gross, Jaycee Bateman, Colt Barras, Brianna Cope, Rylan Leach, Maddy Moore, Sean Richards, Addison Lucas, Amanda Lopez, Abby Gentry, Amira Stindt, Kai Aitken and James Morgen.

Our very own fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Leach, had her classroom create Gravity Cruisers recently. This four week hands-on experiment was part of the science curriculum and gave the students an opportunity to learn about energy and the forces of motion. The students had a great time and this is just one of many examples of how the staff at VVES create kinesthetic learning and lifelong memories.

Please know that we encourage parents and family members to visit and or volunteer often within our four walls. All of us at VVES believe it is critical to partner with families to educate the powerful minds here at VVES. Please let our secretaries know if you would like more information about volunteering within our school and or district.

VVES is a busy place and we have a lot of great things going on within our school. Please check out our website for the most current information at: www.vves-bcsd-id.schoolloop.com
