100 Years Ago
Attorney E.M. Flood has been advised that John Ross of Addie has received a favorable decision in the case in which the U.S. Government had claimed that Ross had not resided upon or cultivated his homestead according to the Homestead Law requirements. The Ross homestead contains 120 acres of rich land.
A petition, from a majority of property owners of the business portion of town, was presented to town council on Tuesday night asking that steps be taken towards the paving of Main St. and intersecting streets including Kootenai St., Bonner St., and Railroad Ave. The paving of Main St. will necessitate the laying of concrete sidewalks in the place of the few wooden sections. The council will meet again on Sat., Dec. 28 to discuss the matter.
Mike Brady was arrested Saturday by Sheriff Dunning on the charge of being drunk in a prohibition district and was fined $10 and costs in Probate Judge Henderson’s court.
Miss Ruth Lozier, teacher of the Curley Creek School left Sunday for Seattle after news of her mother having suffered a stroke of paralysis. The school will be closed for 2 weeks because of Miss Lozier being absent.
E. Osborn, proprietor of the stage line between Porthill and this city, is up and around again after having been confined to bed for 2 weeks with Spanish influenza. Wm. Warwick had been in charge of the stage line and mail carrying business.
A team belonging to J.A. Northrup of Moyie Springs was drowned Wednesday in the Moyie River. The team had been left in charge of a ten year old boy, who was thrown out of the wagon when the animals became frightened and reared. The horses went into the river about ½ mile north of Moyie Falls. The boy was severely bruised.

Jack Sage, a senior at BFHS will represent Idaho in the 1969 U.S. Senate Youth Program. He and another Idaho winner will join winners of other states for a trip to Washington D.C. to learn first-hand the functions of the U.S. Senate.
Boundary County School District 101 officials were keeping a close check on attendance; absences were increasing at Valley View and the high school due to influenza. Valley View had 41 students absent and at the high school 40.
It was announced this week that Denny’s Auto Repair Shop on the South Hill is now under new manage and will in the future be known as Bob’s Auto Clinic. The business has been operated by Dennis Cooper for the past two years and the new proprietor is Bob Fail, a local resident.

A Boundary County woman has been ordered to stand trial on charges of harboring a fugitive. Gloria White was charged with harboring her son, Jade Burn. White made headlines in 1980 for harboring convicted spy, Christopher Boyce after he escaped from a federal prison in Lompac, Calif.
A moose was in attendance at Naples Elementary School on Dec.10. The moose joined about 15-20 children who were playing outside. The children came inside but the moose hung around for a couple of hours.
Badgers dominate in All-IML football selections. Jacob High, Mark Pluid, Riley Mayo, Cody Guthrie, Matt Rice, Kyle Maas, Josh Singleton, and Casey Dirks all made first team.
