Instructions from the adjutant general’s department means it will go pretty hard with the registrants in this state between the ages of 18 and 37 who failed to return their questionnaires to the draft board. There are said to be hundreds of them - they are to be classed as deserters. Conviction on the charge of desertion means a one year sentence in a federal prison.
The Spokane Chronicle contains a write up of how Spokane police are having difficulties catching bootleggers. Detective Chester Edwards says that sheriffs are charging $50 for small cars and $100 for large cars crossing the state line with booze. In Montana the purchaser is often charged the sheriff’s fee along with the cost of the liquor. When he reaches the state line, shows $100 paid for “merchandise,” he gets across the line.

The 4 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Anderson of Moravia was kicked in the face by a horse and severely cut and bruised. Dr. Keller was called to attend to the boy. Had the horse been shod, the kick would probably have killed him.

Tom Duarte soars to the top of the charts in the bass fishing circuit. Just 7 years out of high school, the 25 year old Bonners Ferry native took 5thplace in the second largest bass tournament in the world at The Citgo Bass Master Open in Many, LA.
Conrad Garner received “Coach of Distinction” award for his work with BFHS wrestling team. Adam Hall, outstanding BF wrestler, nominated Garner when he received his All American Athlete Award. Hall recently had a decisive win in the 140 pound bracket at North Idaho College.
Researchers say wolves could help curb wasting disease among deer and elk. They say wolves have an uncanny ability to spot vulnerable animals and would kill off the sick animals. They theorize that killing off the wolf allowed chronic wasting disease to take hold in the first place.
