The Bonners Ferry wrestling team traveled to Shoshone and Kootenai counties last week and faced stout competition in two dual meets and the North Idaho Rumble tournament.

On Thursday, Jan. 25, the Badgers topped both visiting American Falls and the host Kellogg Wildcats in duals. Bonners Ferry defeated Kellogg 51-28 and beat American Falls 43-38.

Coeur d’Alene High School hosted the Rumble on Friday and Saturday, and several Badgers notched multiple wins in the tournament.

The top performance was 195-pounder Gabe See, who went 4-1 in the event for a third-place finish.

See (25-7 on the season) pinned Dustin Carlson of Timberlake and won a 16-2 major decision over Hayden Berger of Lakeland to reach Saturday’s semifinals.

American Falls’ Wyatt Kearn pinned See in 1:46, but See battled back with pins over Lake City’s Connor Dremann and Timberlake’s Jeremy McLemore to take third place.

Also scoring points for Bonners Ferry in the 21-team event were Evan Barajas (106 pounds, two wins), Chad Maas (132, one win) and Jesse Sandelin (160, two wins).
