O. H. Fritts, captain of the B.F. baseball team is already endeavoring to improve the line up for the 1918 team. Jack Johnson a crack second sacker has returned and will work for B.F. Lumber Co. and play ball. With Mr. MacNamara in the pitcher’s box, the local team will be a strong one.
Benefit at Curley Creek — E. B. Schlette reports that the Red Cross benefit dance and basket supper was a great success. The affair was directed and managed by Miss Loretta Lynch, teacher at Curley Creek School. Eleven baskets were sold for a total of $36.
Dr. I. B. Keller arrived here Friday from Libby to take up the practice of medicine as an associate of Dr. Fry. Dr. Keller is a physician of many years experience. He is a native of Ohio and came west some seven years ago for the benefit of his health spending a few months in New Mexico and then working for several years as a company physician for one of the large moving picture corporations in Los Angeles.

Sewer Charges to Increase; Hamilton, acting Police Chief, said $2.40 will be added to the monthly fee to help pay for the $220,000 bond for the new sewage lagoon system now being installed.
Police Chief “Gene” Maggi will retire in July, but due to current medical treatment trips, Don Hamilton who has been on the force since 1960 will be acting Chief of Police.
County budget hearing due Monday morning a budget of $1,029,577.50 is proposed for the year compared with a budget of $900,573.00 for last year.
Badger wrestlers close with wins-set for tourney: The BFHS wrestling team wrapped its first season with a win over Kellogg and Post Falls. They had a first season of seven wins and seven losses.

‘Angels’ on snowmobiles rescue lost Moyie pair — Charles Brittenham and Charlene Blackman didn’t know that angels rode snowmobiles. Now they’re sure of it after six men on snowmobiles rescued them Jan. 22 after they had been lost for 24 hours on an abandoned Forest Service road — Charlene with no jacket and Charles, 75, without medication that keeps him from falling into a coma.
Drizzle leads to small mudslides around county — January drizzle caused several small mudslides in Boundary County Jan. 26, prompting officials to watch for more mudslide weather in February.
Nine dedicated students attended the fall 2002 Ground School at the Boundary County Airport in order to prepare them for their private pilot written test.
