100 Years Ago
W. Warwick, for several months, the repairman and auto mechanic at Crescent Garage has opened a shop of his own in the Kent Bldg. on Main Street formerly occupied by the Kindschuh Tin Shop. Mr. Warwick plans to provide a camping place for the tourists where they may camp for a day or several and clean and repair their cars.
At a meeting of the town council on Tues night, Engineer Cave reported on the cost of a jetty in the Kootenai River to protect the bank east of Main Street. Mr. Cave figured that a jetty made with piling, brush and rock could be constructed for $3,000, but that a cheaper jetty would serve the purpose and would not cost over $2,000.

Inquest Held in Monica White Death — Mrs. White’s body was found about 9:30 last Wednesday at the home of Basil White. White was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
Citations Now Being Issued to Violators of “Cycle Helmet Law” — State Police records for January show that during the first month Idaho’s new motorcycle helmet law has been in effect that 24 riders have been arrested for failure to comply.
Drawings for the 20th Annual American Legion Grade School Tournament were made last week and indications are that this year’s tourney set for March 1-2 will have all the ingredients for another top-notch show for all to attend.
A total of 223 students in grades 1-6 and another 117 pre-school children received shots for red measles during vaccination clinics that were completed recently at six elementary schools in District No. 101.

Bonners Ferry High School Principal Terry Shervin wants security cameras in the high school. He asked the Boundary County District No. 101 board for the cameras during a preliminary budget session Jan. 29. Cameras in schools are common across the nation, he said.
In one of the most eye-opening reports about Boundary County’s retail section, figures now show the county has been steadily gaining in sales tax revenues over the last nine years.
Adam Hall and Danny Swift both were first place winners at the George Wild Invitational at Kellogg Feb. 1. Hall pinned Timberlake’s Josh Manes in the 125 lb. division in 5.03, and Swift won a 6-0 decision over Moscow’s Andrew Sweeney. The Badgers finished fourth out of 13 teams.
