The town council may purchase water and light systems of the Bonner Water & Light Co. Mr. Featherstone, owner of the systems, has offered them for sale for $125,000. Mr. Boyd showed the council business reports, showing the average net profit for the past 4 years amounting to $11, 064.39. The councilmen expressed the opinion that Mr. Featherstone would consider a much lower price.
The B.F. Civic Club is planning to install a drinking fountain on one of the corners of Main & Bonner Streets. They have on hand something over $40 for the project and propose to use this money to buy the fountain if the Commercial Club will agree to pay installing expenses. It was also suggested that the Commercial Club should see to it that a watering trough be put in near the public hitching racks on Bonner Street.
Bids are being taken by the Idaho State Highway Commission until Friday, March 8, 1918 for the construction of approx. 14 miles of the Panhandle Highway in Boundary Co. between Bonners Ferry and the Bonner Co. line.

Guests from Idaho and British Columbia Fish and Game departments spoke on pollution of the area’s rivers and streams at a recent meeting of the Boundary County Sportsmen’s Association. Jim Patterson related how rivers and streams are being polluted by dumping raw sewage and by products from industries.
Bonners Ferry-Sandpoint trap shooters found the range Sunday and registered their first perfect 100x100 score of the year, placing over Coeur d’Alene in the S-R telephonic shoot.
Second Lieutenant James E. Holmes who was recently in action in Vietnam is presently on a 30 day convalescence lease at his home in Seattle. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Holmes of Bonners Ferry.

If voters in the Naples areas decide they want to tax themselves to support a fire district, they might save enough money on homeowners insurance to make up what they’ll pay. That’s what Assistant Fire Chief Michael Richardson and Captain Tony Rohrwasser from Naples Volunteer Fire Association told a group of 15-20 people who gathered to hear their opinions at Naples Elementary School, Feb. 15.
An Arizona based conservation group is suing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to force the agency to provide better Kootenai River white sturgeon spawning habitat. Corps biologists do not know yet how that would affect people living downstream of the dam in Bonners Ferry and Boundary County however; many residents fear the increased flows could damage cropland and increase flowing risks.
Boundary County Commissioners unanimously endorsed the $877,000 Boundary County School District #101 levy Feb. 18.
