Record sale of Christmas stamps — a total of $140 was realized this year in Bonners Ferry from the sale of Red Cross stamps. Last years’ total was $22.
Boyd Spring, a merchant at Meadow Creek was in the city Thursday to attend the Boundary County Defense League meeting. Mr. Spring states there is considerable activity at Meadow Creek. Inland Empire Paper Co. had about 50 men working on a million feet contract.
Flannel on sale for 15 cents a yard at H. L. Claycomb Dry Goods
Help win the War- buy a Government Bond for $4.12 and it will be worth $5 in five years; on sale at all post offices and banks.
Mr. Hall, fire insurance adjuster was in the city to settle the losses sustained in the fire on Dec. 21 when the Bonner Hotel, W. A. Alexander Bldg and the Stookey Furniture Co. were burned.

County tax collection higher for past year — County Treasurer, Grace Knoles, reported that the total taxes collected in 1967 was $800,088.52 — well above the $754,023.73 in taxes for 1966. Boundary County’s assessed valuation for 1967 was $9,681,663 compared with $9,596,709 for 1966.
Local boxer, Fred Hatfield, age 18, has won many titles and honors and is now scheduled to return to the ring on Wednesday night. Fred has been preparing for the Golden Gloves Tournament in Tacoma on Jan. 12 and 13. Hatfield won his weight division in 1965 and was presented the “Golden Boy” award as outstanding fighter.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGlocklin were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary when the entire family, including all six children and their families gathered at the McGlocklin home in B.F. It was the first time the family had all been together since 1951.
The marriage of Kim Cunningham and Robert Lee Aldridge occurred Dec. 29 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Beginning this Sunday, Jan. 7, the cost of all 1st class letters will require 6 cents per ounce postage. Post cards will require 5 cents postage.
Dennis Ripatti, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ripatti of Copeland is serving aboard the U.S. Seventh fleet attack carrier, the USS Kittyhawk off the coast of North Vietnam.

Jack Douglas was unanimously approved to fill the Prosecuting Attorney position vacated by Mark Jones, who resigned Nov. 4 after withdrawing his candidacy for office based on residency concerns. He will be sworn in on Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. Mr. Douglas is a hometown boy, graduated from local schools and spent most of his college years at U of I.
Sheriff George Voyles has requested Boundary Co. Commissioners to investigate a new ordinance dealing with stray and vicious dogs. The move came after two of the three pit bulls that attacked a jogger on Co. Road 2 were returned to their owner, who has decided not to euthanize them. Currant state ordinance allows the court to order vicious dogs destroyed only on the second offense.
Donella Kramer, 82, died on Dec. 28 and a memorial service will be held Jan. 4 at the B.F. United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kramer retired from the Naples grade school in 1981 after a 33-year teaching career. She is survived by sons Don (Wendy), Charles (Tessie), Cliff (Mary) and Dave (Andrea); and daughter Reenie (Pat Doolin).
B.F. electricity customers can expect a late gift from Santa for those who reduced their energy usage by 10 percent will get a rebate. B.F. officials are unsure how much the savings will amount to yet, but expect the total for all customers to come close to $150,000.
