Badgers beat Priest River to open IML play
BONNERS FERRY — Saturday, Jan. 6, the Badger boys basketball team played a home game against Priest River. The boys came out on top 66-41, with Chris Sabin leading the team, scoring 21 points.
“I thought we played a lot better. We have been in a slump and we have gotten things figured out and getting back on the ball. We started the season out well and had some troubles and now we are getting back on track,” said coach Andy Rice. “I’m happy with the effort, rebounding, taking care of the ball, and our offense has been better.”
Practices are spent on team bonding and unity, communication, and building team spirit. The Badgers (4-4) will be playing an away game against St. Maries on Thursday, and they are looking forward to having an opportunity to play against them again.
On Saturday, Jan 13, they have a key Intermountain League home game against Kellogg, which lost one player from last year’s state-tournament team, and will be tough competition.
“Hopefully the game against St. Maries will help boost the game against Kellogg,” said Rice.
