It is with great sadness that the family of Christopher Haworth announces his passing from this world on Dec. 12, 2017.

Chris lived in many beautiful places in his life, always with profound reverence for the natural world. He spent the last 18 years on his beloved land in the mountains outside of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He was at home at the time of his passing.

During his years in Idaho, Chris dedicated himself to honoring ancient Lakota traditions, including the Sun Dance and the Inipi. In this tradition he gave of himself willingly as a teacher, mentor, water-pourer and traditional Sundancer, for the Earth and the People. He opened his home to others, provided a spiritual gathering place for fellow travelers, and openly shared his discoveries with all those who chose to accompany him.

A prolific artist, he worked in many mediums — marble, wood, textile, and paint. Throughout his life he was a teacher in many different settings and, when inspired, an inexhaustible narrator of the happiness and sorrows we all meet along the path in life.

A deeply spiritual person, Chris lived his life on his own terms guided by spiritual principles, a deep intellectual curiosity and a fearlessness that marked his entire life.

Christopher Michael Haworth, born on March 10, 1945 in Los Angeles, Calif., is survived by his sister, Marilyn Hassett of Los Angeles, his son, Joshua Michael Haworth, granddaughter, Kira Rain Haworth, and many members of extended family throughout the country.

He will be deeply missed.
