A carload of Ford automobiles arrived here Sunday for the Crescent Garage. According to Mr. Megquier, all of the present shipment is sold and a new load will arrive later this month. Last year the Crescent Garage sold 23 Ford autos and 3 Maxwells.
Bonners Ferry High School basketball team added another victory as it beat Rathdrum 24-19 last Saturday night. During the game, one of the Rathdrum players pushed his right arm through a glass window and suffered a number of severe cuts. The player was hurried to Dr. Fry’s office where the cuts were dressed.
Northern Pacific Railroad may sue Boundary County to secure a reduction of taxes on company loads in the county. The taxes were raised in 1916 and paid under protest by the company. The Northern Pacific has 95,843 acres in Boundary County upon which it was taxed in 1917 $11,438.39.
James H. Brady, Idaho Senator died in Washington D.C. on Sunday evening of a massive heart attack. According to Sen. Borah — he will be replaced by a democrat. Next fall, Idaho will elect 2 Senators.

2 school buses and cars collide on U.S. Hwy. 2 just east of 3 mile junction because of icy roads and heavy fog. There were no apparent injuries to any bus passengers, but Steve Allenberg, a passenger in David S. Short’s pickup, suffered a broken ankle.
Mr. and Mrs. Renne C. Wickstrom announced the engagement of their daughter, Marlene Ann, to Richard John Fallquist of Spokane. A summer wedding is planned at Trinity Lutheran Church in B.F.
A.J. Baylon, who was appointed to fill the vacancy of the late Joe Wombacher, was sworn in as the new mayor with Dayton Douglas and Russell Docherty being sworn in as new council members. The other two council members are Irvin Dinning and Robert Pace.
The first day of the 10 week Spokesman Review Trap shoot found the B.F.–Sandpoint shooters racking up a 97 x 100 score. Aug Baylon led with a perfect 25 x 25, Gene Cukr 23, Way Davis, Peter Hanson and Hank Eckhart each with 21. Kenny Nystrom, Johnny Hankey and Roger McGhee 20, C.W. Nystrom and Earl Lane had 20. The trap shoot will continue this Sunday at 1:00.
Measles immunization clinics at local schools will be starting Jan. 24, according to Mrs. Ella Wolff, County Nurse. Parents are asked to send 25 cents for the shot on or before the date.
A Boundary County budget of $1,029,577 is proposed for this year, an increase of $129,004 over last year. Mrs. Marion Mesenbrink, County Auditor, states the increase is due in part to two new areas- the public defenders budget to pay attorney’s fees for indigent, and planning and zoning committee.

New public officials, including incoming commissioners Ron Smith and Walt Kirby, were sworn in on Monday. Smith narrowly defeated incumbent Murreleen Skeen and Kirby beat incumbent Kevin Lederhos who was first elected to the post in 1988. Ron Smith was voted Chairman of the new board.
The search for a new BFHS principal has begun and the board hopes to hire someone for the position by the April 28 meeting. The new principal, who would start toward the middle of June, will replace current BFHS principal Terry Sherven who resigned after serving 6 yrs.
Kami Schnuerle, 23 year old daughter of Dick and Kathy Schnuerle, graduated from the Univ. of Idaho on Dec. 14. She was killed in a car accident on Jan. 11 near Roosevelt, Wash. while on her way to Portland to start a job as an art teacher.
Mary Bartlett celebrated her 99th birthday Sunday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Roger Guthrie. All her grandchildren were there to help her celebrate.
Brennan Tymrak has won the BCJH Geographic Bee and will now take a written test to become eligible to compete in the State Bee to be held on April 4.
Donna Irons finished the Portland Marathon in Oct. with a time of 8 hrs. 18 minutes. Her daughter, Cyndi Quirk, and her grandson, Steven Quirk, also competed in the race.
Seeking a back-to-back league championship, the B.F. boys’ basketball team rolled over Priest River and Kellogg last weekend to stay unbeaten in the Intermountain League. Ben Greenslitt led all scorers with 22 points in the first game.
