Pistol Range Day set for Saturday
If you love your guns and love to shoot, this Saturday at 9 a.m. will be a day you will not want to miss. The North Bench Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its first PISTOL RANGE DAY fundraiser with shooting events for all levels and abilities. It doesn’t matter if you are an accomplished professional shooter or an amateur “pistolero,” it’s sure to be a fun day for everyone while supporting the volunteer firefighters in our community.
Some of the exciting events you can try your skill and luck on are steel plate racks and steel dueling trees. There will be two dueling trees as well as two plate racks; one of each for center fire pistols (9mm, 40S&W and 45ACP) and one of each for 22LR ammunition.
If you’re tired of punching paper and want to shoot some reactive steel targets like you’ve seen on TV and the internet, this is your chance. On the dueling tree game, the goal is to shoot each of the six plates around to your opponent’s side before he gets all six of them onto your side. You’ll each have seven shots and fire at the same time, so make every shot count! With the plate rack game, your goal is to knock down as many plates as you can in less time than your opponent with each firing up to 8 shots.
Invite your friends and challenge them to a friendly shoot off! Each match is only a $3 donation for single tickets or you can get 10 match tickets for $25. The winner of each match will receive a “Winners Ticket” which can be accumulated or “cashed in” individually for a variety of great prizes of your choice at the on-site prize booth.
If you need a little more excitement, you can SHOOT A REAL MACHINE GUN. You’ve seen the classics in all the movies, now it’s your turn to give it a try. For a $25 donation, you can shoot your choice of a full auto HK MP5, UZI, or a WW2 Thompson M1A1 machine gun which INCLUDES 25 rounds of ammo and the gun rental. Bring some cash and your camera, this is a rare opportunity you will not want to miss.
All shooters will need eye and ear protection. You can bring your own ammunition and safety gear and ammo and “eyes and ears” will also be available for sale at the Pistol Range Day event.
If your significant other is not a shooter, there will also be live bingo with the opportunity to win the same great prizes as the shooters. There will also be vendors for your shopping pleasure and of course GREAT FOOD. (Are you a vendor of anything? It doesn’t matter if it’s gun related. You can still jump in! Call Lynda at 208-597-3663 NOW).
If you have not already seen the Tactical Innovations ELITE22 custom 22LR rifle built in a red, white and blue “America” theme that is on display at Woody’s Pawn Shop on Main St. in Bonners Ferry, it will also be on display at the Pistol Range Day event this Saturday. Raffle tickets are $2 each or 3 tickets for only $5. Winner will be drawn at the Boundary County Fair and must meet federal eligibility requirements. Winner need not be present to win. Admission to the Pistol Range Day event is a $2 donation. However, if you throw down a $10 bill for a shot at the “America” red, white and blue rifle at the event gate, you’ll get in for FREE and have a good shot at winning the rifle while supporting the North Bench Fire Department.
This first of its kind of event is your chance to support the North Bench Volunteer Fire Department and have a lot of fun at the same time. Let’s make this Saturday a huge success so we can make it an annual event that we can all look forward to. This is a day you DO NOT WANT TO MISS.
See you at the Kootenai Valley Rifle & Pistol Club gun range on U.S. Highway 2 on Saturday, July 14, at 9 a.m.!
