Andrew David Small

It is with great sadness the family of Andrew David Small announces his sudden passing due to a tragic motorcycle accident on July 8, 2018, at the age of 40.

Andrew will be lovingly remembered always by his daughter, Nadia, and the love of his life and partner, Magnolia Marosse. He will be desperately missed by his mother, Valerie (David) Esrey, his sister, Ariana (Kristefer) Gravelle, as well as his beloved niece, Paige. Andrew is preceded in death by his father, Peter Small, a man with whom he shared a lifelong enthusiasm for motorcycles. Andrew leaves behind an extensive group of friends who considered him a treasured family member.

Andrew was born on Feb. 23, 1978, to the delight of his adoring parents. He spent his childhood playing in the woods around his house in Moyie Springs, riding his dirt bike, hunting, swimming, and generally making mischief.

Andrew graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1996, relocating to Coeur d’Alene briefly before returning to Moyie Springs to spend the rest of his life in his childhood home. Andrew was a skilled goldsmith, lovingly creating pieces using a talent passed on to him by his father. He pursued his love of motorcycles unapologetically and found great joy in the challenges and excitement riding brought him.

Fatherhood amplified Andrew’s playful spirit, and his relationship with his daughter, Nadia, was deep, meaningful, and eternal. Andrew was an intelligent, introspective thinker, who provoked meaningful conversation without hesitation. Though a mischievous jokester, Andrew showed up when he was needed, with a loyal heart and genuine care.

A service honoring Andrew’s life will be held at the Great Northwest Territories event center in Naples, Idaho, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 19.

The family would like to offer the opportunity for friends and family to share stories of Andrew’s life at his service. In lieu of flowers, please bring a card or written memories, that can be compiled and saved for his daughter, Nadia, so that she may know her father through the eyes of those who loved him, as she grows older.
