Dick Disney

Dick Disney, 87, passed away at the home of his daughter, Susan, and son-in-law Darryl Stolley on April 18, 2018.

Dick was born in Missoula, Mont., on July 6, 1930, and was the youngest child of Theresa (Scarry) and Frank ‘Pinky’ Disney. Dick played football for Missoula County High School and was a member of the only prep school to win four successive state championships in Montana history. Following graduation from high school Dick attended the University of Montana in Missoula.

Dick met Laura (Kelly) while working in Anaconda. They were introduced to one another by life-long friends Janet and Ron Swanson. The two married at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, on Oct. 6, 1951. Following Dick’s military service the couple returned to Anaconda. The couple adopted three children, Rick, Susan, and Michael.

By 1966 the family settled in Helena, Mont. Dick worked as the first director for the Montana State Department of Consumer Affairs and later directed the Montana AAA Roadside and Emergency Department as well as Hotel Inspections.

Dick is survived by daughter Susan (Darryl) of Naples, Idaho, and son Michael of Bentonville, Ark.; grandchildren Sarah Stolley of Killeen, Texas, Abby (Pat) Gruber of Missoula, Mont., Connor, Anna and Halle of Bentonville, Ark., great-grandchildren Charlie and Jack Gruber of Missoula, nephews Bob (Sue), Terry (Beth) and Don (Kathy) Disney of Missoula, Greg Hahn of Helena, Fr. Ed Ruane of Denver, Colo., John (Shirley) Ruane of Butte, and nieces Laurie (Kenn) of Phoenix, Ariz., Becky (Mark) of Spokane, Wash., and Cindy Seitz of Helena, Pat (Joe) Sicoli of Napa, Calif., and Mary (John) Pahut of Butte.

Preceding Dick in death were his wife Laura, son Rick, parents Joseph and Theresa Disney, and brothers Don and Bob Disney.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Missoula, Mont. Memorials may be sent to the St. Anne’s Building Fund in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
