Free sports physicals at BCH

Do you have students in grades 7, 9, or 11 who plan to participate in sports, including cheerleading, in the upcoming school year? Then according to the Idaho High School Activities Association, these students will need to have a physical before the first practice starts. This also applies to those students who are new to the sports program who did not have a physical last year, even if in grades 8, 10 and 12.

Boundary Community Hospital offers a Sports Physical Clinic annually as a FREE service for Boundary County student athletes. This year the event will be held on Tuesday, July 31 from 5-7 p.m. in outpatient services at the hospital. Park and enter at Outpatient Services off Comanche Street and check in at the coaches’ table. A parent must be present for the clinic.

Students must complete a series of screenings during the clinic including height, weight, vision, vital signs, urine test, and an evaluation for neuromusculoskeletal function including range of motion, strength, balance and functional mobility. Once the screenings are completed, the final stop at the clinic is a physical exam and review of the screening results by a physician or nurse practitioner. The completed forms are reviewed for completeness and then submitted to the Coaches from Boundary County School District for inclusion in school records.
