| July 19, 2018 1:00 AM

The Pearl Theater presents SPIRITSONG international women’s ensemble in the homecoming concert from their recent tour to Iceland on Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at the Pearl Theater in Bonners Ferry. This 15 voice ensemble features women from Bonners Ferry and from Creston, B.C., under the direction of Vicki Blake Thompson, accompanied by Jim Thompson on EWI (electronic wind instrument). Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and $5 for students. They are available at Bonners Books and Mountain Mike’s Nutrition.

The concert features the music they presented six times in various communities in Iceland along with slides and stories from their journey. The program, titled “Folk to Folk,” features folk songs of North America which speak to the common human desires for freedom, connection, and simple joys. They will also share a couple Icelandic folk songs they learned from the women’s choirs they shared workshops and performances with along the way.

The music includes many familiar tunes from the U.S. and Canada in a staged performance with movement, and incorporating slides from the choir’s adventures in the wild and unique landscapes of Iceland.

The Pearl Theater is a non-profit organization, dedicated to fostering the performing arts throughout Boundary County.
