A View of the Fair

| July 26, 2018 1:00 AM

If you’re looking to have a good time and some amazing food, then you should come on down to the fair. At our local fair there is booth for many different businesses and organizations. Our food court has everything from italian sausages to mini donuts made right in front of you. We also have many animal barns you can walk through to view our 4-H and FFA members animals. You can also walk through our exhibit hall and view all open class and 4-H project entries. So come on down to the fair and enjoy all we have to offer.

The Boundary County Fair is just around the corner August 15th – 18th. Stop by the fairgrounds and show your support to all our FFA and 4-H kids participating this year. Check out the barns filled with horses, cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, bunnies, and goats. Don’t forget to check out the project displays that have filled Memorial Hall with quilts, produce, entomology (bugs) boxes, archery displays, and Clover Bud projects. Hope to see you there.

My Thoughts on the 2018 Fair Theme: “Shout n’ Loud, We’re Country Proud”

Summer is one of my favorite times of the year. Because I am not at school all day, I have time for doing the things I love. I get to help my mom with the garden and orchard, and participate in Church activities throughout the summer. Additionally, I am privileged to work at Hubbard Ag Science, where I learn more about agriculture and can learn new skills. Apart from these things, I am also free to go wherever and do basically whatever I want to, whether that be swimming, traveling, or messing around with my family. Through all these experiences, and through my participation in FFA and Fair Royalty, I have had many conversations and encounters with members of this community. People from all walks of life, whether their career is related to agriculture or not, have come here to Bonners Ferry seeking something. That could be open space, a new start, or a simpler life. While our backgrounds and pasts are different, we all share a common bond: we are county proud. Whenever I am in my Tahoe, driving down the North Hill overlooking the majestic Kootenai Valley, I can’t help but want to exclaim my pure joy for where I live. Whenever I hear a patriotic song (especially “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood) my heart aches with the pride I have for the great country we live in and freedoms we enjoy. The theme for the 2018 Boundary County Fair is “Shout n’ Loud, We’re County Proud” and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of running the fair and promoting the fair theme throughout the county. I have so much gratitude for this, the place I call home, and for the people in it. I hope you all can feel as passionate about this place, atmosphere, and lifestyle as I do. Bonners Ferry, let’s get on our feet and shout loud ‘cause we are county proud.
