Mirror Lake Ladies Golf Association Weekly Report
“Margaritaville,” the Mirror Lake Ladies Golf Association’s Invitational golf “fun day” tournament took place on Wednesday, July 18 at Mirror Lake Golf Club in Bonners Ferry. Fifty players from golf clubs in and around the area participated. These included in addition to the Mirror Lake Ladies, golfers from the Elks Golf Club in Sandpoint, Idaho, Cabinet Mountain Golf Club In Libby, Montana, four lady golfers from the Coeur d’Alene area, nine from our neighbor Creston Golf Club in Creston, British Columbia, Canada, and two from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
All the participants enjoyed a wonderful day with 18 holes of golf, a hamburger lunch prepared by Mirror Lake’s Ralph Lotspeich and staff, raffles, many prizes, and making many new friends. The overall winner of the “Miss Margueritaville” title, with a gross score of 78, was Janet O’Keefe of the Creston Golf Club. Other winners were: in Flight A, First place Michelle Fassler of the Links Golf Club in Coeur d’Alene with a net 70; second place Yvonne Larsen of Creston Golf Club, B.C., Canada with a net score of 71, and third place Kelly Kemle of Creston Golf Club, B.C., Canada, with a net score of 73.
In Flight B, First place went to Maureen Blackmore of Mirror Lake Golf Club with her net score of 65, second place to Anna Guthrie of Cabinet Mountain Golf Club with her net score of 76, and third place to Linda Hiatt of Mirror Lake Golf Club with her net score of 77. In Flight C, first place went to Donna Haven of Cabinet Mountain with her net score of 80, second place to Carrie Figgins of Mirror Lake with her net score of 81, and third place to Ann Bonar of Mirror Lake with her net score of 81.
Other prizes were Longest Putt to Dee Wright of Cabinet Mountain with her 28’8” putt on hole No. 3; Longest Drive was Joyce Johnson of Creston Golf Club on hole No. 13; Closest to pin Jenny Link, newest member of Mirror Lake Golf Club with her 14-foot-6-inch putt on hole No. 2, accuracy went to Linda Hiatt of Mirror Lake with her closest to the mid-line on hole No. 15, and the Jimmy Buffet “ring my bell” award went to Yvonne Larsen of Creston Golf Club on hole No. 7.
All in all, with the high temperature cooled somewhat by a great breeze, the day was a great success that was enjoyed by all. The Mirror Lake Ladies wish to thank Ralph Lotspeich and his staff for their hard work in keeping the Mirror Lake golf course in great shape and for their wonderful hospitality to our members and guests. The Mirror Lake Ladies’ Golf Club meets every Wednesday morning with tee-offs at 9 a.m., and every preceding Tuesday evening with tee-offs around 5 p.m. All lady golfers are welcome to join!
