Kay R. (Kathleen) Lipp Bergmann

Kay R. (Kathleen) Lipp Bergmann was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on March 4, 1935, to Thomas Frederick Lipp and Nell Davis Lipp. She grew up and attended grades 1–12 in Bonners Ferry, graduating in 1953. She graduated from the University of Idaho, and moved to Spokane, Wash., to continue her education and training in medical technology. Later she moved to Portland, Ore., and Burlingame, Calif., where she worked for hospitals including the Shriners Hospital for Children.

She married Ivar Bergmann in Nov. 1973. Ivar had escaped the Nazis in Estonia as a child with his mother, father and sister. He was a chemist with Crown Zellerbach and the Department of Navy. Kay later moved to San Francisco where she lived at the time of her death on Feb. 14, 2018. Kay had traveled extensively through Europe and Asia.

Kay is predeceased by her husband, Ivar Bergmann, and parents, Fred and Nell Lipp. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Lipp Plumlee Rosser of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces, Susan Plumlee Johnson of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Diane Plumlee Flynn of Spokane; nephew Gary Plumlee of Kennewick, Wash.; and numerous great-nieces, nephews, great-great-nephews and niece.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry. Lunch will be served after the service in the church hall. Kay is buried at Grandview Cemetery.
