Kootenai River Run to support local high school, college runners

BONNERS FERRY —The 5K and 10K Kootenai River Run is Sanctioned by USA Track & Field and will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 23,. The 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) course brings you in and around the city of Bonners Ferry. Both courses start and finish at the Boundary County Fairgrounds, just 4 blocks west of downtown.

The cost is $25 ($33 Canadian) with T-shirt or $10 ($13 Canadian) without T-shirt. Net proceeds will be used to provide deserving local student runners with college scholarships and to help support the Bonners Ferry High School cross country program.

Entries will be accepted on the morning of the race with no late fee, although to assure receipt of a T-shirt, your entry must be received by no later than June 9. Register at the Boundary County Fairgrounds parking lot between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m. Aid Stations will be available at the finish line, near the 1 and 2 mile points for 5K runners, and near the 1, 2, 4, and 5 mile points for 10K runners.

Trophies will be presented to overall male and female winners in each race. Ribbons will be given to the top three finishers in the following male and female age groups: 0-11 years, 12-15 years, 16-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60-69 years, 70+ years.

Drawings for door prizes will be held during the awards ceremony and the grand prize will be a $100 gift certificate toward the purchase of a new pair of running shoes.

Each preregistered race finisher will receive an embroidered T-shirt unless the no-shirt option was chosen. A limited number of extra shirts will be available on race day. To assure availability of your size, your entry form must be received by June 9.

The Kootenal River Run has added a team category for the 3K run. Winners will be determined by the combined times of the five team members. Declare your team affiliation on race day.
