100 Years Ago
One of the hold-up artists who robbed Mack and Bradshaw last week gave his name as Dan McIntosh. It has now been found that his real name is Arthur Cox; at least he is known by that name at the Montana Penitentiary. The warden advised that the man was sent to the pen in 1914 to serve a six-year sentence for safe breaking and was out on parole. Mr. Cox will be held here for charges.
The body of 10-year-old Vinnie Good was found in the Kootenai River. The young girl was drowned at Warland, Montana on April 20. Her mother and the ferryman at Warland who were also drowned at the time of the ferryboat accident and their bodies have not been found.
The T.J. Hollinger residence on the school hill was purchased last week by R.H. McCoy, vice president of B.F. Lumber Co. Mr. McCoy plans to do considerable remodeling to the house and will occupy it this fall. It is one of the best residences in the city and represents an investment of about $10,000.
Hannah Lee Foote, a 14-year-old girl was adjudged a juvenile delinquent in Probate Judge Henderson’s court. A sentence of a term in the state industrial school was suspended on the child’s promise of future good behavior.

Plans for development of a $100,000 nine-hole golf course and clubhouse at the bottom of Peterson Hill just south of Bonners Ferry were revealed by a local man and his Spokane partner in the venture at the Monday night meeting of the Chamber of Commerce.
Public installation of Bethel No. 17, International Order of Job’s Daughters was held May 31 in the Masonic Temple, Miss Delrene Lane, retiring honored queen, presided. Willa Pace takes post as honored Queen of Jobs.
About 150 people enjoyed an afternoon “down on the farm” last Sunday, courtesy of the 1968 Boundary County Grassman, Gil O. Hagen & Son, and such cooperative organization as the Boundary County Cow Belles, Chamber of Commerce, Bank of Idaho, and First Security Bank.

Quality Farm & Garden center, which opened its doors in 1983, celebrated its 20th year anniversary last weekend, located in downtown Bonners Ferry; Quality recently purchased the old Napa store building and broke through the wall in the back of the store for a large doorway between the buildings. The overall store size has been increased from 8400 square feet to 12,000 square feet.
This year’s three valedictorians are Jacob Katz, Erin Sherven, and Kaitlin Tymrak. Jacob has a full academic scholarship to Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He plans on majoring in aeronautics and astronautics. Erin will attend a small Christian college in Vancouver, B.C. and become a marriage and family counselor. Kaitlin plans on majoring in civil engineering at Northern Arizona University.
