What a ride! What a wonderful, wonderful ride!
It’s nearly impossible to believe I am writing my final newsletter for the 2017-2018 school year! My first year with Naples Elementary has been full of adventure, experiences, learning, and more love and blessings than I could have imagined!
As I write, the students are finishing their final H.A.T.S. class for the year. The energy they have for learning is still going strong! The building is always buzzing with excitement. Especially on H.A.T.S. days! Many thanks to the Naples team and the volunteers who have made this year’s magnet program a huge success. We are looking forward to all that is in store for next year.
If you’re interested in teaching a H.A.T.S. class or volunteering, please take an opportunity to get your fingerprints done over the break. The school district office is open throughout the summer. The fingerprint cards can be picked up at the D.O. at 7188 Oak Street. You may also want to fill out an application to become a substitute teacher, para-pro, custodian, cook, secretary, bus driver, or all of the above! It’s a great opportunity to share your child’s schedule and make a little extra money.
Want to help your child keep the learning alive throughout the summer? Contact your child’s teacher for enrichment suggestions. Take advantage of the kid-centered learning opportunities available through the Boundary County Library and the University of Idaho Extension Center. We also suggest checking out the Summer Reading Program at Valley View Elementary. The theme is “Libraries Rock!” The kids love spending time with their peers reading, playing games, doing crafts, and enjoying the free snacks provided. This takes place on the following Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: June 28, July 5, July 12, July 19, and July 26.
The BCSD summer free breakfast and lunch program begins June 11. Please see the district website at www.bcsd101.com for locations and times.
Report cards will be coming home on the last day of school along with their IRI and/or ISAT scores. If you have questions about the test scores, please feel free to call the Naples office until June 28 or email me (Robin Merrifield) at robin.merrifield@mail.bcsd101.com. As the Director of Assessment for BCSD, I am happy to address your inquiries.
School supply lists for the 2018-2019 school year will become available on the school and district websites as soon as they are released. Local stores will also have them available closer to the beginning of the school year.
Thank you ALL for your support of the PTSA and fundraising events at Naples! Your efforts and contributions have given a much-needed boost to support field trips, ski trips, equipment and special events for the following school year. If you are interested in helping next year, please get in touch with PTSA President Amanda Gardner. She can be reached via email at amanda.gardner@mail.bcsd101.com.
Once again, thank you for welcoming me to the Naples family and trusting your amazing children with the Naples team! Best of luck to the 5th graders in the next chapter of their educational journey! We look forward to seeing the rest of you next year!
GO WOLVERINES!
