BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry’s young boys and girls came together over the past week for Basketball Camp, where the children and young adults were taught the in’s and out’s of basketball. They participated in dribbling, shooting, gameplay, and conditioning exercises, which has given the young generation knowledge about the sport and encourages them to be the next stars of their classes.

Working together is a keypoint in the Boundary County community, and instilling the knowledge of local sports to the young generations assists in not only team building, but relationship building throughout the school and community.

Gaining knowledge of basketball not only brings future players together, but builds relationships between upperclassmen and women, as well as teaching a new skill and mindset to the younger generations.

With an attendance of about 150 kids, the junior high and high school athletes assisted the coaches with teaching their younger classmates the sport of basketball.

There were prizes given out, such as basketballs, T-shirts, bags, sunglasses, cups, and candy, among other things, which helped motivate the kids to do their best during the event.

Throughout the week, the participants learned team building skills, the skills to play basketball, and developing themselves with the assistance of the coaches and members of the middle and high school teammates.
