BONNERS FERRY — On the crisp morning of Saturday, June 16, the Bonners Ferry High School volleyball team hosted its third annual Color Blast 5K run or walk fundraiser.

The participants ran up to the mouth of the Kootenai River and Deep Creek and during the trek, they ran past booths where attendants tossed colored chalk at them as they ran by. Each sponsored station had a color that was sprinkled on the runners.

Each runner crossed the finish line with an event shirt and clothes powdered with a variety of colors from all of the booths on the course.

The event raised money for the volleyball teams to purchase supplies, assist with players having the proper equipment such as shoes, and assisting with traveling expenses during the season.

With clouds of color wafting in the air, the even sound of footfall, and the laughter of the participants being doused in chalk, the event brought people together to support the team.
