Mary Jane Hansen

Mary Jane Hansen, 96, passed away on June 25, 2018 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She was born in Hinsdale, Mont., on Sept. 26, 1921 to George A. and Mary Ann Redmond Fischer.

Mary Jane married Robert Hansen on July 22, 1943 in Ingewood, Calif. They had four children: Robert Warren Hansen (deceased), Susan Thompson, Ken Hansen, and Patricia Dinning (Neil). She had four grandchildren, Elizabeth Poynor (Bill), Stephanie Butler (Jon), Tim Ridgely and Tom Dinning (Angela). Also surviving are her great-grandchildren George Butler, Jack and William Ridgely, and Madelyn, Isabel, and Charlie Neil Dinning.

Mary Jane spent many years raising her four children in Naples, Idaho. In her house by the railroad, she hosted every Christmas Eve gathering and countless birthday parties for her grandchildren. After her husband Robert died in 1993 she moved to her little white house in Bonners Ferry. She loved being in town and enjoyed sitting in her favorite recliner watching the birds eat off the beautiful mountain ash tree.

While she liked watching many sports, she relished an evening spent cheering the Gonzaga Bulldogs on to victory. After living 95 years in her own homes, she moved into the Community Restorium, where she resided at her passing. Mary Jane was a faithful member of the Catholic church and will be remembered for her kind smile and caring touch.

Interment services will be held at a later date at the Williamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon where both her husband and son are buried.
