Restorium picnic fundraiser draws a crowd
BONNERS FERRY — The air was filled with the tantalizing smell of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs as the community gathered for the Friends of the Restorium’s annual picnic fundraiser on June 24.
There was a variety of foods served, accompanied with a silent auction containing a variety of donated things, the pie sale, and live music.
Cheerful conversation and laughter filled the inside and outside of the Restorium making the smiles on the residents faces brighten the sunny day more as the fundraiser brought family and friends together to support the needs of the residents and facilities.
The Friends of the Restorium, or FOR, Inc.’s mission statement is, “To benefit the residents of the Boundary County Community Restorium by providing resources that will enhance the quality of their lives.”
Throughout the past years that FOR Inc. has been hosting fundraisers and receiving donations, they have raised about $300,000 and continue to strive in meeting the needs of the residents at the Restorium.
They have assisted in supplying the Restorium with things such as drapes, flooring, a commercial kitchen stove, other kitchen and serving items, dining and living room accessories, grounds and garden upkeep, needed utensils, holiday decorations, and recently a bathroom complete with a walk in tub, and hair dressing room. They have also supplied the residents with Christmas gifts each year since 2010. This year, they are working to purchase a wheelchair accessible van to assist with transportation needs.
