Bernard Nels Stemmene

Bernard Nels Stemmene was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on Oct. 17, 1934, to Abe and Thelma Stemmene. He left this world on Feb. 22, 2018, to be with the Lord.

On Nov. 15, 1952, he married DeLores Jane Huffman in Coeur d’Alene Idaho. They were together for 42 years before she passed away.

During his lifetime he worked for Great Northern Railroad, various farming and logging outfits, as well as a lumber mill. In 1971 he started working for Wayne Tucker Farms where he retired in 1996.

During these times, he lived in Montana, Washington, and spent the majority of his life in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

In 2009 he moved to Emmett, Idaho, to live with his daughter and son in law, as his health declined. The last year and a half were spent in Ashley Manor.

He is survived by his children AJ Stemmene, Don Stemmene, Holly (Ray) Moss, Nels (Kris) Stemmene, brother in laws Howard Piper and Earl (Anna) Huffman. 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Jane Reifsteck brothers, Arnold and Edgar, sisters Ruthie Piper, Carolyn Galloway, daughter in law Bonnie Stemmene, brother in law Dolph Galloway and sister in law Jerre Stemmene.
