BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County is an area where many community members utilize different methods of self sufficiency, and also hold an interest in natural and holistic remedies for everyday ailments.

Be Free! Natural Living is a local business, owned and created by Amanda Fairchild, that provides handmade, responsibly sourced, organic, and chemical free, body care products.

After her daughter was diagnosed with several late-stage, tick-borne illnesses, Fairchild was on a mission to find things that would help her daughter feel better. After years of research, trial and error, and experience, she was able to provide her family and friends with all natural products created to help relieve ailments.

“I have researched, developed, and tested every product on family and friends since 2013,” said Fairchild, but she urges customers to speak with their health care professional before beginning any new treatments for anything. “My main goal is to provide people with chemical free products that are not only safe from harmful ingredients, but effective and affordable.”

With knowledge and willpower, Fairchild said she has put her faith not only in God, but herself as well, as she began to create products that help friends, family, and community members.

“This began as a ministry to family, friends and others. Eventually, enough people talked to me about starting the business, that I decided to do it,” Fairchild said. “For my own family, with each different product, I saw improvements in every area of healing.”

Fairchild is not a part of an Multi-Level Marketing company. She has spent lots of time and effort creating her products. Made with chemical free, all natural ingredients and essential oils, she brings to the community a healthy alternative to other over the counter products.

“The products I create and sell are all tested and used by my family and friends before I sell them,” stated Fairchild. “Since my husband broke his back in 2002, he has now been able to quit using over the counter pain medication, such as Aleve, and my daughter didn’t have to go on prescription medications after falling ill.”

“I pulled my groin muscle playing basketball with my kids,” said customer Beverly Curtis. “I rubbed the Muscle Relief lotion on the muscle and after about five minutes, my pain was eased and the burning sensation went away.”

Be Free! Natural Living’s products not only assist with pain, but warding off pests, and assisting with the healing of common accidents. They also offer shampoo, conditioner, body oils, facial masks, and lip balms, among the various other products.

“We are able to use chemical free products to ward off ticks, mosquitoes, lice and other bugs. I have seen rashes, tattoos, burns, cuts, scrapes, etc., healed within days of using my Comfrey Salve. My kids and I can all sleep well now, and we have no more sunburns, no more headaches,” said Fairchild.

Speaking about the Comfrey Salve, local tattoo artist, Archie Biegler said, “It heals the tattoo’s that I have done in half the normal time and it makes the colors come out bright and bold.”

“The Tick & Bugz Away Spray is my favorite spring/summer product,” said Fairchild. “Year round we use the Comfrey Salve, Headache Away Sticks and Muscle Rub. I do specialty products for pregnancy and labor on request. And have kid safe products always available.”

The products are not only safe for people, but pets, as well as the environment.

“During the summer months, my family likes to go on hikes in the woods with our dogs,” said Lee Yeoumans. “The Tick and Bugz Away spray not only helps us, but the dogs as well. We feel more comfortable letting them run in the forest brush after applying the spray. Since we began using the spray, we haven’t had a problem with them, or us, having ticks, or being bothered by flies and mosquitoes.”

As requests pour in, Fairchild is looking to expand her online sales as well as bringing her products to local businesses to display and sell.

“My goal is to grow and teach people that there are natural and effective alternatives to often harmful products,” said Fairchild. “This is my home town. I love the area and love helping people and seeing them healed naturally, as my family has been.”
