BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County community members get to know the people behind the counters in all of the establishments in and around Bonners Ferry, one of which is City Hall. In many places of business, the faces behind the counters change. Some move on to other jobs, others retire, and both may find other opportunities to enjoy.

Kris Larson is moving on from being that familiar face as City Clerk, as she spent her last day at the City Hall on March 2.

“It’s bittersweet,” said Larson. ”I loved this job, I had a lot of fun and made a lot of friends here. I’m going to miss seeing the customers and my co-workers everyday, but I have the opportunity to babysit my granddaughter.”

Colleen Garrigan is stepping up to the plate in Larson’s stead.

“I am really excited about it. I am looking forward to working with everybody here in Bonners Ferry, it’s a wonderful place,” said Garrigan. “She is leaving some very big shoes to fill, but I look forward to trying to fill them.”

When one works with someone for a long time, leaving the workplace, or having someone move on can be difficult. Spending hours a day most days of the week with a select group of people allows friendships to grow and flourish.

“I’ve had a lot of tears this morning,” Larson said. “This has been the nicest group of women to work with, and I have really appreciated them through this endeavor.”
