| March 29, 2018 1:00 AM

GROW! Gardeners for Regional Organic Wellbeing, Boundary County’s community garden and a 501.c.3 nonprofit, is excited to announce they are kick-starting their tenth growing season with sales of regular plots and senior beds.

Regular single plots are 4 feet by 20 feet and rent for $20 per season. Larger plots are 10 feet by 20 feet and rent for $45. One raised bed is still available and an eligible individual (senior or individual unable to garden at ground level) may rent it for $25 per season. For more information, please contact Kate Painter at 208-267-3235.

Additionally, GROW! is scheduling the installation of a hoop house structure at the garden located on Buchanan, next to Trinity Lutheran Church Day Care Center. Grant funds for the hoop house were provided by Mountain West Bank, Bonners Ferry. Additionally, work on the fence will start as soon as weather permits. Funds for this project came from a Selkirk Association of Realtors grant. If you are interested in helping with either project or to help with our clean up day which will be scheduled in April, please call Denise Thompson at 208-304-6337.

GROW’s annual raffle sales will begin March 30 and 31 at Super 1, continue on May 5 at Moose Valley Farms Customer Appreciation Day, and end at the Boundary Community Hospital Health Fair on May 12 at which time the winner will be drawn. No need to be present at the drawing! Raffle proceeds help GROW! with operational costs including maintenance, seeds, porta potty, water expense, and more. Lots of great gardening and spring themed prizes will go to the winner of the raffle and tickets are only $1 each or 6 for $5!

Later, on September 22, GROW! will hold its Third Annual Farm to Table Event. Look for details as the event gets closer!

Your support of GROW!, your community garden, has helped grow over 2000 pounds of delicious organic food for the Food Bank and free lunch program just this past year alone and furthered GROW’s mission is to support a local and regional food security system! Thank you!
