Raymond L. Rogers

| May 3, 2018 1:00 AM

Raymond Louis Rogers, 52, passed away after a courageous 3 ½ year fight with cancer on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. Along his trek he experienced two heart attacks, one of which almost took his life, cancer treatments, two brain surgeries, and countless other issues but took each with great courage and strength.

He was born April 13, 1966 in Nevada City, California to John V. Rogers and Roxanna R. (Heiser) Rogers. He went to grade school in Nevada City and then attended Junior High and High School in Bonners Ferry after his family moved to Moyie Springs in July of 1978. After graduating high school, Ray enlisted in the Washington Air National Guard. Completing his active duty training in Ground Radio Maintenance, he returned to Bonners Ferry where he went to work for Cablevision; working for the company for the next 31 years as it sold and changed names numerous times.

Ray married his best friend Stacey on June 5, 1993 and together they pursued a wonderful life together. Ray helped raise Stacey’s son, Brandon Rex, as his very own. Later, they added their daughter, Mikaela, to their family, who could always make her dad laugh because they shared the same sense of humor.

Ray was a beloved son, younger brother, a loving and devoted husband, kind and caring father, very proud grandfather, favorite uncle, faithful, large hearted and very generous friend, and a loyal employee. His love and respect for the earth was one of his greatest assets as he loved exploring the beauty and wonder of it all through fishing, camping and hunting. Camping with his family was at the top of his list along with riding around the mountains on his ATV were among the things he enjoyed. He was known to disappear for hours hiking in the mountains. Ray was also a true foodie to the max! He loved grilling and having all his friends and family join him.

After studying the Bible for a number of years, he dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 29, 1994. Later, he was appointed as a Ministerial Servant and as such he gave public talks and was able to do more for the congregation. He was faithful to the end!

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and survived by Stacey, his wife of 25 years, daughter Mikaela Hunt and husband Tyler, son Brandon Rex and wife Lauren, grandchildren Isla and Ezra, brother Floyd and wife Sharon, niece Ashley and husband Michael, nephew Dustin, great nephews and nieces Ryu, Nyssa and Kynlee and cousins.

Ray will always be remembered for his indomitable strength, his willingness to help others at a drop of a hat, his love for his family and congregation, but most of all his love of his creator, Jehovah and his son, Jesus Christ in whom he put his complete trust. Ray was never a complainer or given to self-pity. He was known for his great attitude and the smile on his face. He had the characteristic of having a positive attitude and viewing the glass as being half-full and not half-empty, knowing that better times were ahead and this situation was temporary. At times he was self-conscious about his appearance, which had greatly changed due to all of the medications, but he wanted to be faithful to Jehovah. He was happy to be able to attend his last meeting, special assembly day and memorial this month, which brought him great joy and hoped it would be an encouragement to his family and friends. Ray will truly be LOVED and MISSED by us all.

Ray’s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for every card, email, phone call, text, visit, meal, gift and continuous prayers (both for Ray and his family). They would also like to thank Hospice House with their incredible staff and nurses as they gave Ray and his family the support, courage and will to endure to the end (Matthew 24:13).

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8500 N Ramsey Rd., Hayden, Idaho on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815, or www.hospiceofnorthidaho.org.
