BONNERS FERRY — Pulling up a chair at one of the white cloth-covered tables, with scattered accents of red, the diner is invited to stay and enjoy the culinary adventure of a four course meal at the new restaurant, Generations at the Hemlocks.

Located 10 miles out of Bonners Ferry, on Highway 2, and seven miles from the Idaho/Montana border, Generations fills a void for those living in the area, as well as promises to be a draw for others wanting to venture out for a fine dining experience.

They officially open their doors tomorrow, May 11, and will be open Fridays and Saturdays, from 4-9 p.m.

Owners Tammy and Will Hedrick reopened and revitalized The Hemlocks RV and Lodging in 2013, and they continue to pursue their dream of restoring the beloved business to its glory days. One of these steps was to bring back the restaurant — and Generations was born.

The menu is designed as a four-course meal so that guests can plan to stay and enjoy the experience, surrounded by cozy log and stonework. Their main courses include such items as the Pan Seared Steelhead for $41, Tender Lamb Kabobs for $41, or Epicure’s Elk Steak for $45. Included in that price is an appetizer, such as the White Wine Steamed Clams. Also included is a soup or salad, and a choice of dessert.

Generations chooses to showcase as many local ingredients and items as they can, like fresh vegetables from Marsha Semar at Cottage Gardens, and meats from the local 4-H and FFA market animals and Wood’s Meats.

After a successful soft opening, the owners are looking forward to what the future will bring.

“To those Generations of people that have celebrated, worked at, and owned the Hemlocks: Generations is named for you - and the Generations to come!“ said Tammy Hedrick.

Reservations recommended but walk-ins are welcome.
