In May Valley View Elementary School celebrated the character trait of joy.

Valley View Elementary School (VVES) is wrapping another great school year! It has gone by very fast, but we feel blessed to make so much academic and social growth the past nine months. We have hard-working students and a staff that goes above and beyond daily for those that we serve. VVES is an amazing place to work and partner with parents while growing the leaders of tomorrow.

With that said, every month at VVES we celebrate a different character trait and get the opportunity to highlight our wonderful students. The month of April we celebrated self-discipline and in May we celebrated the character trait of joy. The following students were highlighted by their teachers for these traits. For self-discipline we had: Julie Magee, Marek Michaels, Chase Jones, Reece Liermann, Gracie Munden, Myles McCulla, Grady Atkins, Ayda Logan, Taylor Haynes, Riley Beggerly, Taren Bateman, Aspen Graham, Brian Fischer, Kassidy Durette, Ava Villelli, Alexandra Fodge, and Eli Blackmore.

For the month of May the character trait is joy and the following students are: Otter, Chamille Jones, Juliana Sartell, Koltyn Clark, Isabella Jand-Blake Syth, Ezekiel Cornett, Andrew Langan, Kasey Clemons, Kaylee Jeppesen, Emily Adams, Brooklyn DesRosiers, Emile Bourassa, Vanessa Taylor, AdleeMae Roble, Ivy Dante, Timber Jackson, and Rylie Kimball. Please congratulate these wonderful students when you see them.

Mrs. Petesch, our PE teacher, is encouraging all families to exercise together and participate in the Family Fitness Challenge. This month’s winner is Elliott Homik and he won a new basketball. Congratulations Elliott! If you would like more information regarding this great program please check out Mrs. Petesch’s PE link on our school website.

As the school year comes to an end I often have parents of all elementary ages ask me what they should do over the summer. My response is nearly the same for all ages and that is read to your child if they can’t read themselves. You can also have older siblings read to them a few nights a week. In addition, on long road trips I believe giving mental math games in the car is very helpful. If you are around town this summer also please join our VVES Summer Reading Program with Mrs. Colson on June 28, July 5, 12, 19, and 26. More than anything, make learning enjoyable and relevant to what the child likes.

VVES is a busy place and we have a lot of great things going on within our school. Please check out our website for the most current information at: www.vves-bcsd-id.schoolloop.com
